Malaysia s fast ageing population: Are we ready to handle the consequences?

Photo: Filepic/AFP Currently, there are an estimated 3.5 million people – or 7% of the population – in Malaysia who are above the age of 65. The Auld Lammas Fair is traditionally held every year on the last Monday and Tuesday of August and would normally see thousands lining the streets of the seaside town of Ballycastle. Members of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Leisure & Development committee will be told tonight (Tuesday, March 16) that  due to the ‘unpredictable course of the pandemic’ it remains too challenging to even begin preparations for the world famous festival which can take up to eight months to plan in advance.
